The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, is the traditional ruler and spiritual leader of the Yoruba people in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He became the 51st Ooni in December 2015 after the death of Oba Okunade Sijuwade.
The Ooni of Ife is believed to be a descendant of Oduduwa, the legendary founder of the Yoruba people. This belief is deeply rooted in Yoruba tradition and mythology, where Oduduwa is seen as both a historical and divine figure. The Ooni's connection to Oduduwa is widely accepted and celebrated as part of the cultural and spiritual heritage of Ile-Ife.
